Dr Sydney Coleman receives early shipment of Evolence to NYC

Dr Coleman just received the first shipment of Evolence to his office in TriBeCa.  Even though the FDA approved this innovative form of collagen as a dermal filler in June 2008, Evolence just now being delivered to offices.

The Aesthetics Group of OrthoNeutrogena, a division of Johnson & Johnson, will only sell Evolence to a physician who has been trained in its use.  Dr. Coleman flew to Grand Cayman earlier this year to inject Evolence into patients, and he now will train other physicians in the use of Evolence.

The pricing for Evolence is similar to Radiesse, Restylane and Juvaderm; however, more Evolence may be necessary to obtain the initial correction. This increased expense is offset however, by the longer duration of the correction with Evolence.  The FDA trials in the US were only for six months, so the press release for the FDA only mentions six months duration of the correction.  However, the European Evolence website says that the results last up to twelve months; and the experience of injectors in Europe is that it lasts even longer.

Above are photographs of one of Dr. Coleman’s patients he treated with Evolence in the nasolabial folds, lips and around the chin.  This patient experienced minimal bruising and surprisingly little swelling as seen at twelve hours (middle photograph).  The right photo is one month after the procedure and demonstrates notable softening of the deep wrinkles and folds.

More photos soon from Dr. Coleman.  In the meantime, please look at the Evolence before and after gallery for more examples.
